Temple services and community administration.
Sweden Balaji Devasthanam
A temple website and administration platform I created to bring seva bookings, household memberships, donations and community events together.
Explore what I built
The public website. Visitors can explore temple information, sevas and poojas, upcoming and past events, community activities, stotras and temple updates. Event pages include details and calendar downloads, while membership and donation pages explain ways to participate.
Bookings and devotee accounts. The platform includes seva booking forms with pricing based on active household membership, membership registration, and a personal account area for bookings, contributions and household information. Account flows include registration, email verification and password recovery.
Donations and participation. Features include building-fund contributions, pledges, annadanam sponsorship and a “Donate a Nama” experience for searching and reserving names. Supporter listings display people who consented to be named, without displaying their contribution amounts.
Staff administration. A role-based backoffice supports temple content and operational records. Statistics, CSV exports and PDF reports help authorised staff review activity, memberships and contributions. Devotees can access their own household’s yearly contribution statement.
How it is built. Next.js and Payload CMS power the website and backoffice, with PostgreSQL for structured data. The application runs in Docker on Azure App Service, with private Azure Blob media storage and Azure Communication Services for email. Terraform defines the infrastructure, and GitHub Actions runs checks, builds, database migrations and deployments.
Current stage. This is a development pilot with fictional seed data and test-mode payments, not the temple’s production system. Pay-later/Bankgiro support is implemented and configurable per seva; production rollout, approved content transfer and scheduled membership expiry reminders remain future work.
